Finance Director – Peterborough – 95,000 / 100,000 + bonus

ALH Recruitment are recruiting for a Finance Director with immediate effect for our market leading client based in Peterborough.

This role reports directly to the CEO and the hours of work are Mon to Fri 9-5pm.

Role

The Finance Director is a key member of the Executive team providing financial leadership and strategic advice to the CEO, wider Executive team and the Board of Directors whilst leading an effective Finance team.

This role has a seat on the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees for the Retirement Benefits Plan (pension scheme)

The Finance Director plays an integral role in driving and shaping our client's business. A trusted member of a stable and strong executive team, the Finance Director will act as strategic and operational lead for all finance aspects of the business, and the formulation and implementation of the overall strategic plan. This role includes leadership of our Financial Controller and their respective teams.

Key responsibilities:

Responsibility for all elements of the company’s financials, combining both an operational and strategic focus to promote the success of the company.

This includes all budgeting, production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accurate accounting records and systems, evolving of internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company’s financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Key elements of the role include:

* Key advisor to the Board of Directors and CEO on all financial activities and risk impacts

* Member of the Board of Directors, Board of Trustees of the pension scheme.

* Provide leadership to optimise the company’s financial performance and strategic position

* Contributor to the development of company strategy and business plans

* Working closely with peers to achieve financial and non-financial objectives

* Responsible for financial internal controls and development of anti-fraud measures

* Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and are sustainable for future growth

* Accountable for accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance to company policies and accounting standards

* Project sponsor for the CRM system, ensuring that the system delivers the agreed business benefit

* Lead the finance team, responsible for team training and development

* Income and Expenditure forecasting

* Working capital control and reporting – cash flow management and debtor control

* Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders: bank, auditors, and tax authority

* Responsible for payroll (staff and pensioners), expenses and supplier payments

* Responsible for continuous improvement of company systems and reporting

* Responsible for keeping the business up-to-date with accounting standards and practices

* Ensure statutory and regulatory reporting deadlines are met

* Business Continuity planning and revising and/or setting new company policies

* Roadmap for the Finance team focusing on continuous process improvement of internal controls and reporting

* Responsible for diligent record keeping within the finance team, ensuring compliance to tax, data protection and other legislative requirements

Track record of senior business partnering and working closely with Managing Directors

Experienced in contributing to the success of the finance strategy

High performing person with the ability to build rapport with colleagues and others, and able to challenge and influence key stakeholders

Exceptional communication skills essential both written and verbal

Strong Excel and presentation skills

Excellent time management skills

Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach

Key requirements:

* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 6 years’ PQE in a senior management role with extensive accounting and financial planning /analysis at Board level

* Previously held a lead Finance role (Finance Director/Head of Finance or equivalent).
