Join the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) and help promote small animal welfare.

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association, based near Gloucester, has a fantastic opportunity for a Desk Editor to join its publications team to work on its internationally-renowned series of veterinary publications. The Desk Editor will oversee publishing projects from receipt to publication and be the main point of contact for external authors and editors during that time. This role is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with some experience in publishing to work on a prestigious and highly-regarded range of titles.

Desk Editor Requirements:

The successful candidate will ideally be of graduate calibre or equivalent. A degree in life or health sciences would be a significant advantage.

Experience of core editorial skills such as copy-editing, proofreading and project management is required. Strong Microsoft Office skills together with an awareness of the digital publishing environment would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team environment and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful applicant should also be able to act on their own initiative, multi-task and prioritise their workload, paying meticulous attention to detail.

Each year we deliver numerous education courses, host the largest small animal Congress in Europe, publish books, manuals, apps and magazines.

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Salary: £23,000 to £26,000 per annum
Benefits: Hybrid working, 23 days holiday (pro rata), free on-site parking, 7% contributions towards Group Personal Pension and Life Assurance of 4x salary.
