An established UK specialist manufacturer of biological products for the agricultural and other industries, based in the West Midlands, is seeking a new Commercial Sales Director/ Business Manager with strong Sales, Marketing and Business Development / Product Development background, to assist us in taking our business to the next level of growth through an exciting range of new products.
Role Description:
The successful candidate will have a broad and in-depth experience in Sales and Marketing, among other key business functions. Over time you would be progressing into the finance and operational areas also, becoming an all-round manager and leader. As the role progresses you will be broadening your business acumen across the Sales and Commercial spaces, so existing experience in this disciplines would be a distinct advantage for the successful candidate!
There will also be strategic information and reporting requirements which will be provided to the board as required and agreed. The position will be based in the West Midlands area. The commercial Director will also help to identify and develop markets for new products such as:
* Bacteria
* Protein Hydrolases
* Purified Protein
Plus, existing products such as:
* Silage inoculants
* Feed Additives
* Silage Additives
* Mycotoxin Binders
* Slurry treatment
* Seed Dressings
* Folia Sprays
As part of the focus for this role is on new products and product development, any experience within the area of business “start-up” would be advantageous for the successful individual.
Initially, this position will almost single-handedly drive commercial development, with sales support and other key personnel being hired on a business needs basis. The existing and established part of the business will continue to operate with current personnel and support in place, and is largely self-sustaining, this will allow valuable time for the “Commercial Director” to “find their feet” within the new business, and within the overall group.
The ideal candidate will have a ten-year plus proven track record in Sales / Marketing or a broader commercial background ideally within the agri biotechnology sector, or a closely related industry.
An established network of relevant contacts would be extremely beneficial, however the key criteria is a demonstrable track record in successful selling where the existing marketplace is not too dissimilar. They will be highly motivated with good people skills and have an ability to lead from the front, however be flexible to work and engage in close co-operation with the owner of the business as required.
Direct experience in any of the above-mentioned products would be considered very relevant.
You will need to demonstrate a technical mindset and will probably have a degree in Business or Commerce; a degree in Science or Agribusiness is also relevant. A competitive salary package will be offered
