Salary : £23000 – £30000/annum

Job Overview:

As a well trained and experienced chef, you will work with the guidance of Ellern Mede’s Dietitians to provide high quality, well-prepared and presented food to patients which meets their medically planned nutritional needs. The usual pattern is one cooked meal a day served at midday, with a variety of meals for breakfast and snacks as well as sandwiches for the evening. You will also prepare a lunch and sandwiches for staff.

You may also be required to cater for events and functions as directed.

You will prepare menus in consultation with the dietetic team and other members of the professional staff team.

You will receive training in Ellern Mede’s policies and processes and will be expected to maintain your knowledge using our e-learning platform.

The role includes working with a kitchen assistant, supervising the kitchen hygiene, stock control and ordering, maintaining stock of kitchen equipment and requesting replacements as required

Main Duties:

* Preparing food for all patients and staff

* Ensuring all food and food preparation areas are maintained and clean

Post Requirements:

* Experience of working in a commercial or hospital kitchen

* Experience of managing a kitchen including stock ordering

* Ability to follow medically approved diet plans

* Attention to detail

* Warm manner in dealing with patients

* Discretion and confidentiality in a hospital environmen

* Enhanced DBS

About Ellern Mede Derby:

Ellern Mede Derby is a brand new specialist service for children and young people with eating disorders. The hospital comprises of Trent Ward, a 7-bed ward for Children aged 8-17 years with eating disorders and Derwent Ward, a 10-bed ward for young people aged 18-25 years with eating disorders.
