Hours of Work: 5 in 7, 40 hours per week (flexible including weekends over harvest) – rota.

The Job Role Details:

An Assistant Farm Manager is now required to lead the team to effectively grow, harvest and deliver high quality crops within customers' timeframes and specifications maximising farm profitability; reputation; and social and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
You will…

Manage a team of 10 workers – plus seasonal and harvest workers.
Support the Head of Farming and Farming business in all property related matters.
Develop, maintain and execute production and labour plans, providing required levels of resource and support to create a farming environment which is delivering high standards of agronomy and product quality efficiently.
Develop and maintain systems for accurately recording the storage and usage of raw materials. (i.e. Packaging, Chemicals, Crops, Equipment)
Ensuring that stock on hand reports are always available so that accurate Management Information (MI) can be generated.
Lead, coach and develop the Farm team so they are engaged, delivering goals and objectives that enhance both personal development needs, as well as improve business performance.
Work collaboratively both on farm and other businesses to share ideas and develop best practise so that farming and business performance is increased.
Deliver a lean farming environment which habitually looks for ways to improve performance and reduce waste through developing, implementation and utilising KPIs and other Management Information (MI), so that action can be taken to improve performance and best practise can be shared across the business.
Maintain food safety and H&S compliance within the farm through adherence to policy and procedure.
Contribute to the formation of long term plans, utilising industry best practice, and the budgeting process, play a leading role in the delivery of these plans.Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:

An exemplary communicator with an innate ability to build relationships across the business.
In depth knowledge of arable farming production methods.
Proven ability of people management.
Experience of irrigation and root crop production would be desirable.
HND/Degree or equivalent in agriculture related discipline would be desirable.
Good interpersonal skills.
Commercially Aware.
Basis and Facts would be desirable.
Ideally has PA spraying certificates – not essential.Essential Skills:

Farm work experience.
