Salary : £25 – £30/hour possible perm opportunity

My client is one of the countries leading main contractors, currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer, for their Highways division.

The purpose of the role will be to produce comprehensive and accurate scheme designs, reports and documentation in accordance with the brief and in line with the time and budgetary allocations.

To contribute to the overall delivery of the workload of the Highways team within the Design Services North (Manchester and Penrith offices) including feasibility reports and design reviews of third party designers

Duties will include the folowing:

Contributing to the successful delivery of the programme of work by producing and developing sound and innovative design solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale, following processes and procedures as well as any Client specific requirements.
Developing and designing solutions in accordance to National design standards, procedures and requirements and any specific parameters.
Production of accurate and concise scheme documents and reports.
Contribute to compliance with the Quality Management Systems including site specific audits.
Production of designs that comply with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations.
Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
Contribute to the monthly reporting of progress to clients including review of completion against planned programme
Assist in the development of colleagues.You will need the following:

·Experience within a public, Private or third sector UK based clients

·Significant highway engineering experience to undertake schemes over £1.0m over the full project life-cycle.

·Excellent technical expertise in the design of road alignment, pavements, drainage, signing & road marking, road safety.

·Relevant design software/CAD/Civils 3D

·Appropriate professional qualification
