Electrical Design Engineer (EICA) – Oldham

Job Type : Contract, Full Time

Salary : £20000 – £60000/annum + package

Role Objective:

Carry out and complete electrical design packages for our key clients, this would typically include the production of BCD’s, SLD’s, cable & equipment schedules, connection diagrams, cable calculations, cable routing and cable containment (for 2D AutoCAD and 3D modelling), equipment GA’s, Lighting calculations & small power and lighting GA’s.

It will be your role as the electrical design engineer to integrate yourself with the project team to deliver the design packages, both to the client for approval and the site teams to facilitate their installations and provide technical assistance through the life cycle of each project.

The projects overall will include the delivery of the design, supply, installation and testing of cabling and equipment for multiple LV distribution systems/panels, MCC’s, control panels, pumps & motors (for various applications), valves, instrumentations, telemetry and network devices.  As well as lighting and building services equipment including fire/gas detection systems, Heating/ventilation CCTV & Intruder detection.

Typical Accountabilities may include:

Review Client specifications & documentation and assist with engineering/design costs prior to tender submission
Propose value engineered solutions to both the client and internal project teams
Raise and manage technical queries with both the client and internal design teams
Produce detailed electrical designs in line with client specification & requirements
Review and approve subcontract design packages
Review and report design progress with the project managers
Assist with Selection and procurement of suitable equipment & components
Compile O&M’s, as built documents & certificate handover packs
Skills and Experience:

Water sector experience essential
Electrical Engineering Qualification – ideally HNC (time served in an electrical discipline & technical certifications considered)
Water Treatment Process understanding (desirable – would need to build on knowledge)
Proficient in design software packages, such as – Auto CAD, Auto CAD 3D, Amtech cable calculations (Trimble), Relux lighting and Navis works
Proficient with Microsoft office applications
Ability to interpret a wide variety of multidiscipline drawings and design documents
Knowledge of ethernet/fibre optic & profibus communication networks
Knowledge of CompEx installations, Atex equipment & PEAZ
Experience of working to water industry standards, specifications (WIMES), codes and practices
Experience of implementing CDM regulations in the design process
Experience of working closely with supply chain in delivering projects (with emphasis on adherence to design specification, H&S, outputs, and quality).
