Product Designer / Estimator
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £20000 – £22000/annum
Are you a dynamic and proactive product designer with the ambition to join a design and manufacturing leader in Reading? Up to 22k pa, free parking, a great working environment, flexible start/finish times and 22 days annual leave + bank holidays is on offer to the successful individual. This role would suitable someone starting out in their product design career, either degree level or with 1-2 years experience.
As the Product Designer / Estimator you will be:
• Designing and developing bespoke or made-to-measure products and design requests from customer briefs
• Providing quotations and cost estimates for products and schemes
• Producing 2D site layout drawings to calculate quantities for quotation and illustrating proposed solutions
• Technical drawings for the quotation of designs, products and components by external fabricators or suppliers
• Layout, creating or duplicating customer artwork for print production
• Creating 3D visual drawings to wow customers and win the job
• Designing, developing and researching new products, materials and finishes to enhance, complement and expand the range
• Consulting and advising on design problems
• Adobe work designing and delivering print and digital marketing materials
• Undertaking occasional travel of site to survey and support sales and project management teams on site meetings in a professional and knowledgeable capacity
As the Product Designer / Estimator you will need:
• An exceptional attitude, drive and passion for design
• Ability to work in high pressure environments and demonstrate strong verbal and visual skills
• 3D visualisation and modelling software (Autocad 3Ds Max and Inventor, or similar)
• 2D layout software (Autocad or similar)
• Knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
• Experience in sourcing, negotiating and ordering of non-stock materials and components
• Ideally educated in product design or a related discipline to degree level, or equivalent by experience
• A proactive can-do attitude with a keen eye for attention to detail
