Position summary
The Designer is involved in the creative design; concept, development and delivery of a wide variety of projects through the production of print and motion graphics solutions. In addition, the Designer will also have the opportunity for digital collaborations on projects with other service providers, internal or external.
Core duties
• Works with partner agencies in the delivery of projects across print and digital media
• Produces concepts and designs in line with given parameters and guidelines
• Ensures all time is logged accurately against job number(s) with detailed information Education, work experience and skills
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in Art/Design or a related field
• Strong design work experience required
• Competent skills in core programs of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and knowledge of other applications that might enhance the creative/digital offerings. Ability to use these programs in parallel, efficiently and appropriately but not exclusively
• Proficient use of MS Office applications
• Experience in aspects of production (pre-press, printing, etc.)
• Demonstrates desire to learn new applications and technologies as required or to improve creative output
• The ability to develop concepts within brand guidelines with the guidance and support of the senior team
• Shows enthusiasm to learn about the tools and programs of the larger Creative team, as available and appropriate, with regard to digital delivery
• Participates in learning opportunities provided, and pursues/recommends appropriate additional learning opportunities
• Experience in multiple aspects of delivery and production (digital, print and emerging techniques) Core responsibilities Creative Approach to Planning and Collaboration
• Contributes to the creative ideation process; is proactive in providing input and ideas relevant and appropriate to the target audience and therapeutic area
• Shows desire to understand project details and therapeutic area involved; is personally proactive in conducting research, sourcing information
• Considers and explores the merit of design-related ideas of non-designers
• Takes into account the brand guides associated with each client and works within them
• Keeps up to date with trends in typography, design and digital delivery
• Reviews client and competitor websites for background and insight Concept Development, Aesthetics and Composition
• Pursues concepts that are in line with any project’s deliverables, target audience, messages, and therapeutic area
• Proactively pays attention to detail on aspects of appropriateness and relevance to projects content
• Interacts with Creative, Editorial and Client Services counterparts to work together to overcome any creative challenges, without compromising quality over quantity or delivery
• Develops concepts that appropriately accommodate the proposed content required in a balanced aesthetic composition
• Makes effective use of applications and skills to best deliver any given project Creation
• Adheres to timelines relating to projects and works to them
• Effectively extends initial concepts into layout phase, pays attention to detail on all aspects of layout, maintaining continuity
• Ensures a high attention for layout aspects beyond personal accountability, such as conspicuous spelling errors
• Uses software appropriately when considering applications and methods used Project management, self-management and teamwork
• Maintains/improves team processes and is proactive about sharing/learning the implementation of good ideas and practices
• Understands the importance of billability and accurate time recording, maximising personal billability within work hours
• Manages time effectively and works within budget restraints, keeping senior creative staff and client services aware of any issue that affects these throughout a project
• Understands that on occasion, there will be a need to work outside business hours to deliver projects on time Interpersonal liaison
• Internal liaison with other team members, Nucleus Central departments and agency colleagues as required, ensuring efficient information flow and delivery of assigned projects Managerial responsibilities
• No direct line reports
• Reports to Studio Manager and receives guidance and feedback from senior creatives
• Is aware of own work capacity and proactively communicates capacity to manager
• Ensures manager and team members are aware of planned absence (e.g. holidays, time off in lieu) and that appropriate approvals are granted
• Informs assigned manager promptly of time off due to illness or unscheduled absence; completes, and obtains sign-off of, appropriate absence notification forms Financial
• Ensures timely submission of expenses for cash advances and credit cards, with supporting original VAT receipts
• Completes own timesheets accurately on a daily basis Compliance
