Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary : £55000 – £60000/annum

Randstad engineering is recruiting for 2 design team leaders to work on a permanent basis for a new client based in Oxford.

The role will suit experienced design team leaders from the energy, power distribution or the high / low voltage sector. The successful candidate will have both mechanical and electrical experience with favour of mechanical design and strong mechanism experience. Must have a proven track record within a lead position.

The role will involve

Accountable for working with all other Engineering teams to resolve product issues* Responsible for leading and inspiring your team, determining plans and mechanisms to deliver against your own objectives including ongoing problem solving.
Lead design and development of allocated projects. Accountable for application of DFM to all product development.
Prepare and schedule internal and external testing: supervise as appropriate, working with the Laboratories team.
Accountable for production of design documentation and maintenance of project files.
Accountable for correct finished product BOM using Engineering systems to capture as appropriate.
Responsible for effective delegation that enables the Engineering design team to be successful at all levels.
Guarantee the delivery of the business strategy, by ensuring all your team members have clear objectives and regular performance management meetings. Ensure planning for and carrying out monthly one to ones as a minimum.

The person required

Degree equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
Understanding of relevant IEC standards.
Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanism Design and functionality.
Comprehensive knowledge of materials.
Driven to apply DFM to all product development.
CAD Experience
Good understanding of medium and Low voltage Distribution switchgear.
Demonstrable people management skills.
