This is one of those rare opportunities that Designers can spend their career searching for, often without any success. A designer and manufacturer of industrial capital equipment supplied globally, is now seeking a Design Engineer to revamp, update and improve a 40 year old product base that has served as the company's main income stream since their inception.
You will support the I2V (Innovation to Value) Team with developing existing ideas (of which there are many) and cultivate your own. Tasked with updating materials used (BOM) to reduce manufacturing costs, which will in turn decrease costs to end users whilst improving margin for the business, you will completely revamp and redesign their products starting with patterns for castings.
Some of your responsibilities are listed below:
Design and develop new components for an ageing product range
Execute engineering change required by I2V projects across their main product range
Plan, run and participate in I2V workshops as the company process
Review current designs, assess competitor machines and generate innovative cost reduction design ideas
Manage the workload of 2 remotely located I2V engineers
Work and exchange information with other global I2V Leaders

Create supporting documentationThe ideal candidate will be a Design Engineer from an engineering business preferably experienced in the design of castings. The company use 3D Inventor and AutoCAD software but they're more interested in personality fit, so other software experience will be of interest (training is on offer).
