Design Engineer
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £24000 – £27000/annum
An industry leading Signage company have a new opportunity for a Design Engineer to join their growing team. The company is based in Bradford and is a 4th generation family run, privately owned business with in excess of 90 years in supplying signage to a host of high-profile world brands such as McDonalds, Amazon, Morrisons and many more.
Your day to day duties as a Design Engineer would include:
Being based within the drawing office using Solidworks & Signlabs to produce highly detailed manufacturing drawings for the shop floor.
Creating transmissions for the Laser & Router Machines.
Use software's such as AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Trumpf trutops.
Guide and manage projects through the factory.
Creating DXF transmission and flat pack drawings that are sent to the machines for cutting.
Responding to problems / issues from the Operations team or Shop floor on a daily basis and being able to quickly react and problem solve to suit the short lead times that come with the industry.
Keeping the inhouse Microsoft Access Job System up to date and attaching all work / transmissions so jobs can be issued through to the factory in a professional orderly fashion.
The ideal Design Engineer candidate:
This is a design orientated role and the applicant must be a team player with good attention to detail and be willing to guide and manage projects through the factory. The applicant must have an open mind to develop new skills and be eager to assist the department in any way to be as efficient and thorough as can be. The candidate must ideally have a history of working in signage or a similar line of work.
Previous SolidWorks (or potentially Inventor) experience is essential, and most desirable either the Sign Industry or in other sheet metal and/or steel construction industries. In house training will be available through the Design manager and/or by a skilled operative for secondary software such as Signlab. This will aid both the operative and design manager in monitoring the candidate's progression. The role to be reviewed initially on a quarterly basis.
