Graphic Designer – Books
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £30000/annum
At Titan Publishing, we’re looking for an experienced Book Designer to join the team based in London.
About the role
* Designing briefs: For Illustrated Art, Film, TV, and Popular Culture Books as well as having knowledge of design in Fiction, Digital and Marketing projects too
* Exceptional Photoshop & colour correcting skills on High end Books and Graphic Novels
* A broad knowledge of designing entire books e.g. Covers and Interiors
* Designing work allocated by Line manager to an exceptionally high standard
* Logging jobs on central database, and other information as directed by Line manager
* Offering guidance in meetings on design improvements
* Checking work to ensure files are print ready; fonts, images etc
* Using initiative to check work when aware of problems, and act to offer solution
* Acting as a design team point of contact in absence of both Line manager or senior staff
* Answering questions and resolving issues (where capable) whilst acting as a design team point of contact
* Taking briefs and messages from “internal clients” if Line manager is unavailable
* Checking design for work for quality and consistency
* Making suggestions for improvements to work
* Attending Creative Covers meetings and giving feedback
* Work to specified budget for each project
* Having knowledge and understanding of current trends in the books market – being aware of the competition
About you
* HND/Degree level Design/Graphic Design
* A-level education
* 4-6 Years design experience
* Experience in Book Publishing
* Creation of templates/house style for magazine/book from own concepts
* Responsible for meeting deadlines for several projects Advanced level use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
* Creative and flexible
* Good use of typography and colour
* Comfortable with constructive criticism/feedback
* Conscientious and reliable
* Capable/calm working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
* Articulate and able to communicate showing understanding
* Comfortable in team environment
* Ability to work independently and under own initiative
This role is based in Central London, however we welcome applications from candidates who wish to pursue remote working.
