A rapidly expanding, multi regional UK real estate developer have an opportunity for an Architectural Technician / Technical Coordinator to join their growing Yorkshire regional office in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

The new Yorkshire regional office will cover cities from Derby to Ripon and coast to coast with a focus on its central Leeds base. Our client are a mixed-use developer but will primarily focus on residential development sites, they generally use traditional procurement methods but can appoint Design & Build Partners where appropriate. This is an exciting opportunity to join the technical team early and be part of a growing business, excellent prospects are available to the right candidate.

The initial focus is on the design and delivery of a 260+ new build homes situated in a prominent site on the outskirts of the city centre,

The Role

Reporting to the Regional Development Manager, the primary purpose is to manage all technical aspect related to each development site, past, present and future. You will be an integral part of appointing and managing the extensive design team and will be capable of interacting between multi-disciplinary consultants and understand how their roles impact the development. You will be fully versed with residential development and be involved from the feasibility stages through to post completion. In addition to working closely with the external design team of consultants, you will be principally responsible for checking their work, managing workflows to ensure commercial, sales and construction have all information in advance of needing it. You will be capable of using AutoCAD and other design software to prepare and develop standard details and supplementary drawings required by the region.

The Responsibilities

Asses new site acquisition opportunities from a technical and design perspective.

Assess design risk, profile the opportunities and work to a delivery programme.

Assess site suitability from a design perspective at feasibility stage including producing layout designs and site layouts.

Obtain Land Registry reports, and relevant planning documents to support site appraisals.

Communicate with planning consultants, environment agency, statutory bodies.

With the commercial manager organise, manage and co-ordinate statutory utilities at all development stages.

Produce and prepare AutoCAD drawings for standard detailing.

Appoint project consultant teams and manage workflows.

Check third party designs from consultants and suppliers, approve and sign off.

With the commercial manager, work with the supply chain and provide any required design and technical detailing and or specifications.

Provide technical support and guidance to construction.

Liaise with local planning authorities, councils, building control and warranty providers.

Possess an excellent technical understanding and knowledge of the building regulations and technical requirements.

Carry our frequent site inspections where required.

Communicate with external and internal clients to mitigate risk, control and manage continuity.

The successful candidate

Fully qualified to degree level in Architectural Technology and HND Building Studies.

Member of CIAT preferrable.

Proven track record working at this level in housebuilding and construction.

Highly skilled at AutoCAD use and have an excellent in-depth knowledge and understanding of the building regulations.

Have a meticulous eye for detail.

Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work to strict deadlines, possess a high degree of self-motivation.

Salary up to £40,000 per annum + 25 days holiday, excellent bonus, life insurance policy, generous pension. The place of work is Morely, West Yorkshire, hours are 09.00 – 17.30pm.
