A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Planner to join a highly reputable building consultancy based in Diss, Norfolk.

This uniquely challenging role is of great importance as the new addition will effectively run the day-to-day operations of the planning side of the business. Working closely in conjunction with the specialist Surveying and Architectural teams, we require a suitably qualified Planner who is seeking a genuine career opportunity and will be at ease within this multi-disciplinary team.

With a very cohesive set-up, this firm are able to offer full building consultancy services thanks to a team of in-house Architects, Surveyors, Technicians and Consultants. This coupled with a long-established brand and solid reputation across the region makes them a very clear first-choice for professional building consultancy services.

The primary focus of the role is to offer expert planning advice for a range of projects, including residential development schemes, public sector works, community projects, agricultural to residential change of use, works to Grade I & II listed buildings, as well as working on planning applications in order to increase asset value.

Key responsibilities include:

Being the first point of contact for all planning related queries, both externally and internally, whether they be individual queries or part of an on-going project. Offering comprehensive, sound advice using existing knowledge and also cross-referencing most recent legislation.

Work in conjunction with internal departments to offer support in respect of planning for projects, liaising with colleagues to best ensure a well-rounded understanding of each of the project requirements.

Effectively facilitate the planning process; compiling planning applications and appeals for a broad range of projects.

Compilation and delivery of Design & Access statements, Planning Assessments and Feasibility Studies.

Maintaining strong working relationships with clients; representing them in an official capacity at committee meetings etc. and always aiming to deliver an exceptional, professional yet friendly service

We require a suitably qualified Principle Planner that is hands-on, personable and able to work both independently and as part of a small team where your contribution is truly valued. A good understanding of the local area and East Anglia as a whole would be very advantageous, however, we are also open to considering those who may be looking to relocate for the right opportunity.

Other requirements include:

RTPI accredited status

A professional manner; confidence in providing comprehensive planning expertise to clients, colleagues and a range of key stakeholders

A flexible approach to your workload, the ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively

Plenty of self-motivation but also a team-focused drive; the desire to be a proud brand ambassador and reinforce our client's values based on excellent service

Whilst the team is based in Diss, Norfolk they are transitioning in part to work from home providing some flexibility in location for the successful candidate. Currently the intention is to work from home 4 days a week and one day in the office for team building and meetings.
