Mid-Weight Designer

Our client is now seeking a Mid-Weight Designer to join their team in Halifax, where the New Product Development for Brands is situated. The successful candidate will be creatively minded but have technical ability to match, with positive commercial exposure and be able to hit the ground running in a fast paced, creative environment.

Not the usual agency role, you will be included in a team that develops and manages products and packaging through to production, so will see your hard work evolve into actual product that sells into retail stores all year round.
The successful candidate will always design whilst thinking commercially. You will be able to apply that design style to a full range of products successfully, giving the product & packaging consumer appeal within its specific retail environment.
You will work closely with the Head of Design in bringing design concepts to life, but you will be given the chance to work up your own concepts and potentially work this through to production point. Each day is different, one day you could be working on a tea towel design for a very popular global brand, the next day you could be thinking about how to package a gift to ensure a consumer cannot say no.
Mid-Weight Designer Skills & Experience:
• You will require a diverse range of skills which you will have gained within a commercial design environment.
• You will be working across packaging, product, POS and brochures so the need to be able to multi task and run several projects at once is important.
• This is a rich and varied role so where necessary you will also be required to create mock ups, take photos of samples, email feedback to colleagues, and generally help out where required.
• A good eye for design and detail, with the ability to understand and adhere to brand guidelines goes without saying.
• You will be a team player who is a clear and confident communicator at all levels, and you will be a great colleague to be around at all times.
• Ability to keep calm under pressure.
• A diverse and organised individual (with a 'can do attitude) who can work on and off numerous projects at the same time.
• You must be capable of creating concepts whilst also able to continue this through to finished error free artwork.
Mid-Weight Designer Essential Key Skills Required:
• Academic qualifications in Graphic design / design related discipline preferred
• Proven track record gained within a commercial environment
• Great typographic skills and awareness.
• Strong composition and layout skills.
• Quickly understand brand guidelines and work accurately at all times
• Keen attention to detail, you will create flawless work, but also be good a checking others work.
• Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite – Mostly being Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
• Strong ‘hands on’ Mac experience, you should also have great craft skills in creating mock-ups for most projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• Design experience for packaging
• Good organisational skills.

Mid-Weight Designer is offering Circa. £20,000 – £24,000 Basic Salary plus benefits for the successful candidate. This is a full-time, permanent, office based position.
