2nd Line Support Engineer, Windows, Greater Manchester to £30K
A leading Managed Services Provider is looking to recruit a 2nd Line IT Support Technician to work in their client’s office located in Manchester city centre and also Liverpool. As part of a team of dedicated technicians, you’ll be providing 2nd Line and Desktop Support to approx. 850 to 900 users – covering cutting edge hardware, software and infrastructure technologies. Supporting one of the UK’s largest firms within their industry, this role combines both end-user support with more technical hands on troubleshooting
The role:
The 2nd Line IT Support Technician will provide support to a diverse group of onsite and off-site users. Whilst based in our client’s office in Manchester for 3 days, you will also cover the Liverpool office for 2 days and to carry our site visits and provide holiday cover for Leeds. You’ll respond to incidents and requests via a modern IT Support System in line with company SLA’s. You’ll troubleshoot Desktops/Laptop, telephony, network and printing errors, investigate software issues and carry out daily checks to ensure that backups are completed successfully. You’ll also ensure that the computers you’re responsible for are complaint with Cyber Essential Plus as well as installing and configuring hardware, software and mobile devices. You’ll also have the opportunity to carry out server based tasks and gain insight into infrastructure-based technology.
About you:
The successful 2nd Line IT Support Technician will need to be self-motivated, conscientious, methodical and organised, with the ability to liaise with clients at all levels of a business whilst demonstrating excellent customer service at all times. You’ll possess a logical approach to problem solving and will already be experienced in a similar role.
Essential skills:
* • Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role
* • Windows 10, MS Server 2012/2019, MS Office 365
* • Active Directory & Group Policy administration
* • IP networking & telephony, DNS, DHCP
* • Server, network and desktop hardware
* • Customer facing skills
Desirable skills:
* • SCCM
* • Mobile device support
* • Sophos AV
* • Backup software and hardware, in particular Arcserve Backup Solutions
Desirable qualifications:
Any of the following: MCSE/MCITP, MCP/MCTS or VCP
